With over 25 entries to the Why Not Niwot? Juried Exhibition this year there were so many great pieces our judges had to pick from. Before the exhibitio
n went up at businesses around Niwot in July and August, our judges came together in search of the entry exemplifying the uniqueness of Niwot. Alyson Bell of Tool Studios in Niwot, Lisa Rivard of Lisa Rivard Art in Niwot, and Mary Williams of Mary Williams Fine Arts in Boulder gathered to judge the entries.
All pieces accepted into the show were displayed throughout Niwot's historic 2nd Avenue and Cottonwood Square, giving people the opportunity to see the pieces and complete a People's Choice Ballots after visiting all the locations. It's always a good reason to get around and discover or rediscover parts of Niwot!
After getting the awards started by playing with the Niwot Semi-Marching Band, Biff Warren from the NCAA announced our juried winners and people's choice winner. Ginger Bowen's Barn 4 took Grand Prize for depicting the Dodd barn just east of the Diagonal Highway. Osmosis' own Anne Postle took home 2nd place for her piece Niwot at Night featuring osmosis and Niwot Jewelry. Lamya Deeb's piece with the familiar flower-filled wheelbarrows of Niwot called Barrel a'Bloom took 3rd prize from the judges. Finishing up awards was the People's Choice Winner: Bil Enyart's Highway 52 View painted on glass which caught everyone's eye as they visited the pieces.
In support of the Niwot Cultural Arts Association cards, wine, and prints featuring the Grand Prize-winning piece by Ginger Bowen are available by donation at osmosis.
