For Spring 2025 osmosis will feature "Favorite Places: Moab & Crested Butte," with new works by Colorado artist Lonny Granston.
Lonny’s journey as an artist has been anything but conventional. After putting aside his crayons in childhood, he pursued a career as a family doctor, triathlete, husband, and father before rediscovering his passion for art. When he picked up a pastel years later, he found he could still "light things up"—and he’s been capturing the wild beauty of the Colorado and the American Southwest ever since.
Moab and Crested Butte, two of the most breathtaking landscapes in the region, serve as the heart of this exhibition. Through vivid pastels, Lonny brings to life the dramatic red rock formations, winding river canyons, alpine meadows, and towering peaks that define these iconic locations.
A passionate outdoorsman, Lonny often works from photos taken while hiking, biking, or rafting, but nothing compares to painting directly in nature. Many of the pieces in this collection were created en plein air, giving them a raw energy that immerses viewers in the landscape.
